The American Soybean Association (ASA) named Jamie and Brian Johnson of Frankfort, South Dakota as regional winners in the 2022 National Conservation Legacy Award during the annual Commodity Classic.  Brian says his dad Alan started no-tilling more than 30 years ago which has led to marked improvements in soil health and resiliency.

Jamie says their wholistic approach to regenerative agriculture on their operation is the key to their success, including cover crops, diverse rotations and cattle.

Brian says their conservation efforts have also allowed them to lower their input use and costs on the farm, while still achieving higher yields.

Johnson’s have also planted shelter belts and installed grass waterways.

This year’s Conservation Legacy Award winners were Wayne and Ruth Fredericks from Osage, Iowa.
