The search for a new Police Chief in Yankton has ended with the naming of interim John Harris to the full-time position. City Manager Amy Nelson made the announcement Tuesday.

Harris, who began the interim position last month, says he didn’t intend to stay in Yankton….

Harris says he was impressed with the community and the department…..

Mayor Nathan Johnson, who was also on the search committee for a new chief, says it’s a good move for the city…..

Harris follows former Chief Brian Paulsen who resigned in late June.
