Thursday’s tornado that devastated the Iowa community of Marshalltown hit the JBS pork processing plant. JBS spokesman Cameron Bruett says their distribution center bore the brunt of the damage, but no one was injured.
He says they hope to have the meatpacking plant fully operational by the end of this week. It has a capacity of 20,000 hogs per day.
Bruett says this past weekend, their executives and employees helped feed the Marshalltown community and its tornado victims.
Bruett says their plant was shut down Friday through Sunday, but they were able to process hogs on Monday. Today they’ll open both their fabrication area and the harvest floor.
