Jamestown, Midland Top GPAC Polls

Jamestown and Midland are the front runners in a pair of polls predicting the top baseball and softball teams this season in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

The University of Jamestown totaled 91 points and is the preseason coaches’ selection to win the 2019 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball Championship. The Jimmies tallied four place votes. Midland, tabbed second with 83 points, had two first place votes. Northwestern was picked third with four first place votes.

This is the first year for the Jimmies competing in the GPAC. Northwestern was the GPAC regular season champ in 2018.

Midland totaled 119 points and is the preseason coaches’ selection to win the 2019 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Softball Championship. The Warriors tallied nine first place votes. The University of Jamestown was picked to finish second with 104 points and two first place votes. Morningside, tabbed third, received the last first place vote.

Midland shared the regular season title with Morningside. Northwestern won the GPAC tournament championship last year, defeating Midland in three games.
