South Dakota State will enter The Summit League Men’s Basketball Championship as the top seed for the second time in school history while looking for its third tournament title in four years.
Eight teams begin play at the tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday, March 7 and will determine The Summit League’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in the championship game on Tuesday, March 10.
The Jackrabbits (21-9, 12-4 Summit League) earned their second Summit League regular season title since joining the league and currently hold a league-best No. 21 ranking in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. SDSU will meet No. 8 seed Western Illinois (8-19, 3-13) Saturday, March 7 at 6 p.m. CT (Midco Sports Network / ESPN3) in the first men’s tournament game held in the new Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
No. 2 seed and defending tournament champion North Dakota State (20-9, 12-4) plays Saturday’s second game, matching up against No. 7 Denver (12-17, 6-10) at 8:30 p.m. CT (MidcoSN / ESPN3).
Sunday’s quarterfinals session begins with No. 4 Fort Wayne (16-13, 9-7) against No. 5 seed South Dakota (16-15, 9-7) at 6 p.m. followed by the session nitecap matching No. 3 seed Oral Roberts (17-13, 10-6) and No. 6 seed IUPUI (10-20, 6-10) at 8:30 p.m. Both games air on MidcoSN / ESPN3.
Monday’s semifinals begin with the winner of No. 1 vs 8 game against the winner of the No. 4 vs. 5 game at 6 p.m. followed by the winners of the 2 vs. 7 and 3 vs. 6 games at 8:30 p.m. Both semifinals will air on MidcoSN / ESPN3.
Tuesday’s championship game is set for 8 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and available on WatchESPN.com.
