A Sunday loss gave South Dakota State a split in weekend Summit League road games while the Jackrabbit men earned a conference victory Saturday in Omaha.
Despite having three players in double figures, the South Dakota State women’s basketball team suffered a 68-67 Summit League loss to IUPUI Sunday afternoon.
The Jacks, now 11-6 overall and 2-2 in league play, got 15 points and a game-high 8 rebounds from senior Mariah Clarin (Princeton, Minn.), 12 points from sophomore Chynna Stevens (Clark) and a career-high 13 points off the bench from freshman Ellie Thompson (Chaska, Minn.).
The SDSU women had salvaged a one point win Saturday at IPFW.
South Dakota State briefly stumbled out of the gate on Saturday at Omaha, but quickly regained its composure, and eventually ran away with an 87-68 win behind career nights from both George Marshall and Reed Tellinghuisen.
The Jackrabbits improve to 11-7 overall with the win and even their Summit League mark at 2-2. The Mavericks fall to 7-9 overall and to 1-3 in league play.
Marshall led all players in the game with a career-high 25 points, which included a career-high five 3-pointers. Tellinghuisen scored a career-high 19 points, with Deondre Parks adding 18 and Cody Larson 11 points in the win. Parks also led the Jacks with three steals.
