A day-night basketball doubleheader at Frost Arena Saturday produced wins for both the South Dakota State men’s and women’s teams.
South Dakota State men’s basketball shook off a slow start to win its 32nd consecutive home game, taking down the UMKC Kangaroos, 77-68, on Saturday morning inside Frost Arena.
SDSU (4-6) won its third consecutive game while snapping a three-game UMKC (6-3) winning streak. Andre Wallace led the way with 23 points for the Jackrabbits while Mike Daum added 21 points.
Women’s sophomore guard Madison Guebert scored a career-high 26 points as the Jackrabbits recorded a 103-45 nonconference win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Saturday in front of 1,455 fans at Frost Arena.
Guebert, who made a career-high eight 3-point field goals, fell one short of tying the SDSU record, set in 1989 by Lisa Kurtenbach. Senior guard Kerri Young scored 17 points to surpass the 1,000-point mark along with a season-high 7 assists. She is the 35th Jackrabbit to score 1,000-or-more points.
