South Dakota State won a pair of basketball games from Denver Thursday with the Jackrabbit men scoring an 81-77 road victory and the SDSU women posting a 95-59 home triumph.
The SDSU men (21-6, 9-1 Summit League) shot just 37.9 percent as a team, but survived a late Pioneer charge to maintain its lead in The Summit League standings.
The Jackrabbits led by as many as 20 in the contest. State used six free throws in the final minute to seal it.
David Jenkins Jr. led all scorers while matching his career-high of 31 points, drilling six 3-pointers in 36 minutes.
With five players scoring in double figures, the South Dakota State women’s basketball team recorded a win in front of 1,543 fans at Frost Arena.
The Jackrabbits, now 20-5 and 9-1, have won 20 or more games for the seventh-straight season and 12th time in the last 13 seasons. Macy Miller led the Jacks with 20 points.
