South Dakota State head basketball coach Scott Nagy announced the addition of two players on Wednesday, both of whom signed a National Letter of Intent.

 

The two signees include:
Adam Dykman, 6-7, F, Fremont, Neb. (Archbishop Bergan High School)
Cole Gentry, 5-10, G, St. Charles, Ill. (St. Charles East High School)

 

Nagy on Dykman

“We think Adam is a great addition, we love his toughness and I love the fact that he led state of Nebraska in free throw attempts the past two years. We know he wants to be a great player; he’s in the gym all the time, he plays with tremendous passion and that’s one of the things we love about him, just how hard he plays.”

 

Dykman averaged 22.9 points 12.1 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game as a senior in 2014-15 in leading the Knights to a third place finish in the stat with a 20-7 overall record. He also set career-high marks with 44 points and 19 rebounds in a game as a senior in a game against Boys Town.

 

For his efforts during his final year of high school, the Omaha World Herald named Dykman Super State First Team and Class C-2 Captain honors to go along with a Mr. Basketball nod from NebraskaHShoops.com.

 

As a junior, Dykman averaged 16.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in leading the Knights to the Nebraska Class C-2 state title with a 24-3 record, earning Omaha World Herald Class C-2 All-State and All-Tournament team honors along the way.

“We’re very excited to sign Cole, we believe he’s our point guard of the future. He’s been one of the top players in Illinois all year. He’s a very exciting player with tremendous ball skills and really shoots the basketball, which has been key to our success over the past few years.”

 

Dykman led St. Charles East to a 24-4 record and a share of the Upstate East Conference regular season title as a senior averaging 18.2 points and 4.7 assists per game, while shooting 55 percent from the floor, including 38 percent from 3-point range and 97 percent from the free throw line.

 

The second-winningest player in school history, Gentry earned conference MVP and co-captain honors on the Tri-Cities All Area team. He also earned City/Suburban Hoop Report Second Team All-State, Courier News Player of the Year and Chicago Sun Times All-Area team nods, adding and MVP of the DeKalb Holiday Tournament along the way.

 

Gentry also got it done in the classroom, earning academic all-league honors in his sophomore through senior years.
