After winning a pair of titles and claiming eight top-five finishes in 2014-15, the South Dakota State women’s golf team is ready for a 2015 fall schedule against the strongest competition the program has ever faced.
“We are really excited about our upcoming schedule for the 2015-16 season.” Casey VanDamme, Director of Golf said. “The ladies are coming off a tremendous spring and are continuing to build momentum into the fall. We look forward to the great competition and seeing where we stack up against a tough schedule.”
The Jackrabbits get their season started in the Hawkeye state Sept. 12-13 at the Diane Thomason Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa. Last year, SDSU placed fourth on the 6,142-yard, par-72 Finkbine Golf Course. Juniors Hallie Getz and Megan Mingo both finished in the top 10.
SDSU looks to stand out in a field packed with highly ranked teams when it travels to Knoxville, Tenn., Sept. 21-22 for the Mercedes Benz Women’s Collegiate Championship. The Jackrabbits will face ranked teams from the SEC, Big Ten and the ACC.
South Dakota State makes a return to the Chip-N Club Invitational Oct. 5-6 in Omaha, Neb., after a seven-year absence. SDSU played in the invitational twice with its best finish coming in 2007-08, tying for ninth.
For the fifth year, the Jacks travel to Springfield, Mo., Oct. 12-13 to play at the Twin Oaks Country Club in the Payne Stewart Memorial. Last year, SDSU finished fifth in the team championship and tied the then-school record for lowest 18 holes, shooting a 301 and finishing the event with a then- school record 908 for 54 holes.
