South Dakota State scored a pair of Summit League victories with easy decisions in a basketball doubleheader in Brookings Saturday.
The South Dakota State men held Denver to just four field goals in the second half of Saturday’s 43rd Annual Pork Classic, and kept the Pioneers from scoring over the final seven-plus minutes, turning a 15-point game into a 69-39 Jackrabbit win Frost Arena.
The Jacks shot 59.5 percent (25 of 42) in picking up their eighth straight win and 15th in a row at home to improve to 17-7 overall and to 8-2 in The Summit League. Denver, which shot 21 percent in the second half (4 of 19) and 33.3 percent for the game (12 of 36) falls to 9-13 overall and to 3-6 in league play.
With a season-high 3,840 fans in attendance at Saturday’s 43rd annual Pork Classic, the South Dakota State University women’s basketball team broke away with a 16-0 first-half run to record an 82-52 win over North Dakota State University in Summit League action at Frost Arena.
The Jackrabbits, who had four starters score in double figures, won their third-straight contest and sixth consecutive home game to improve to 15-7 overall and 6-3 in league play.
