The regular season begins for South Dakota State University basketball teams Tuesday with the women on the road and the men opening at home.

Coming off its 12th consecutive postseason trip and 21st 20-win season, the South Dakota State women’s basketball team travels to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to play its first nationally ranked team this season in 19th-ranked Marquette in the Al McGuire Center. Tipoff is 11:30 a.m.

The South Dakota State men welcome Grand Canyon to Frost Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. against the Lopes in a matchup between two programs picked to win their respective leagues.

The Jacks are the three-time defending Summit League tournament champions, and last year earned the program’s first-ever outright Summit League regular season title, going 13-1 in league play. State carries the nation’s longest active home-winning streak (20) entering the season.

Grand Canyon, tabbed first in the Western Athletic Conference’s (WAC) preseason poll, brings the nation’s 22nd-highest winning percentage over the last three seasons.

Both games can be heard on 570 WNAX.
