South Dakota State opens Summit League play Friday at Western Illinois in Macomb, Illinois.

The Jackrabbits and Fighting Leathernecks tip at 4:30 p.m. from Western Hall before the women’s game.

The Jacks are the three-time defending Summit League tournament champions, and last year earned the program’s first-ever outright Summit regular season title. SDSU, picked first in the Summit League preseason poll, finished the nonconference portion of its 2018-19 campaign with a 10-5 mark. Last time out, the Jackrabbits fell at home to Montana, 85-74.

Western Illinois enters the weekend with a 5-8 mark, picking up an 81-52 win over Chicago State prior to the Christmas break on Dec. 20.
