Kocer owns a 234-26 career record, including a 159-7 mark his final four seasons. He was voted Wagner’s Most Valuable Wrestler and Hardest Worker this season, along with receiving the Mitchell Republic’s Athlete of the Week. Kocer was also an Academic-All State honoree.“David Kocer is one of the best kids in South Dakota,” Bono said. “He exemplifies what we are looking for to represent Jackrabbit wrestling. He’s an outstanding student, an outstanding wrestler, and an even better person. We look forward to having brothers on the team to really demonstrate the family atmosphere we are here at SDSU. We’re looking forward to David having a great career in the Jackrabbit singlet.”Walters, a Coralville, Iowa native, finished with a 191-25 prep record at Iowa City West. A four-time state qualifier, Walters placed three times, taking second as a sophomore and third in his junior and senior campaigns. Walters recorded 785 career takedowns and had 76 pins. A 2012 Folkstyle All-American, Walters was also a 2012 Iowa Freestyle and Greco state champion. Other accomplishments include being a 2012 and 2013 Edgerton Outstanding Wrestler, a 2013 Central Regional Freestyle runner-up, and the 2013 Central Region Greco champion and Most Outstanding Wrestler. He also went 11-1 at the Disney Duals and was Iowa City West’s 2014 MVP.“To get a kid of Chris’ ability in the late signing period is awesome,” Bono added. “He comes from a great program with a lot of tradition with head coach and former NCAA champion, Mark Reiland. His attitude and mentality will fit right in with what we are doing. We think Chris is going to excel in our program.”SDSU finished the year 6-8 overall and had three NCAA qualifiers, the most in school history.2014-15 Jackrabbit Wrestling Signees:Josh Casperson – Beresford HSSpencer Derifield – Waverly-Shell Rock HSDavid Kocer – Wagner HSLogan Peterson – Atwater-Cosmos-grove City HSQuinn Smith – /Rock Bridge HSKaleb Staack – Waverly-Shell Rock HSChris Walters – Iowa City West HS
