For the second year in a row, the South Dakota State University football team has reached the quarterfinals of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
This year, however, the fifth-seeded Jackrabbits will host a quarterfinal game as they take on unseeded New Hampshire. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The game will be heard on 570 WNAX and televised exclusively on ESPN3.com.
The Jackrabbits enter the matchup with a 10-2 overall record, reaching the 10-win mark for the first time in program history with a 37-22 home victory over Missouri Valley Football Conference rival Northern Iowa in second-round action Dec. 2. SDSU has won six games in a row, including the last five against ranked opponents.The Jackrabbits ended the regular season ranked sixth in both the STATS FCS media and FCS Coaches’ polls.
New Hampshire, meanwhile, improved to 9-4 overall by knocking off fourth-seeded Central Arkansas, 21-15, in second-round action Dec. 2 in Conway, Arkansas. The Wildcats are making an FCS-best 14th consecutive postseason appearance under head coach Sean McDonnell. UNH opened 2017 playoff action with a 14-0 home win over Central Connecticut State on Nov. 25.
