Five South Dakota State University players were honored Tuesday on the all-Summit League Baseball Team, which was announced on the eve of the postseason tournament.
Summit League regular season champion Oral Roberts led the way as it placed 11 selections on the baseball all-league teams. The awards were announced at the annual banquet and were voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Omaha’s Clayton Taylor was named the league’s Player of the Year and teammate Tyler Fox captured Pitcher of the Year honors. Oral Roberts’ Brent Williams earned the Newcomer of the Year award while his head coach Ryan Folmar garned the Coach of the Year accolade.
Designated hitter Jesse Munsterman was the lone Jackrabbit to earn first-team honors. A senior from St. Peter, Minnesota, Munsterman ranked second on the team for batting with a .304 average, along with three home runs and 33 runs batted in.
Highlighting SDSU’s second-team selections was sophomore Luke Ringhofer, who was honored on the all-Summit League Baseball Team for the second year in a row.
Joining Ringhofer on the second team among position players were senior outfielder Paul Jacobson and junior first baseman Matt Johnson. Rounding out the Jackrabbits’ second-team honorees was junior relief pitcher Landon Busch.
