Tuesday was not only a good day for the South Dakota State basketball teams, but also for the Jackrabbit golf teams.
It’s two tournaments played, two tournaments won for the South Dakota State women’s golf team. They won the seventh annual Jackrabbit Invitational Tuesday at the Primm Valley Golf Course.
The Jackrabbits, who won the Red Rocks Invitational Saturday in Arizona, shot an 892 (296-298-298) on the par-72, 6,223-yard Lakes course.
Junior Megan Mingo (Yankton) won her first tournament title and becomes the first individual champion in Division I for the Jackrabbits. She shot a two-under par 214 (71-72-71), collecting six birdies, and setting personal bests for 36 holes (143) and 54 holes.
It’s been eight years since a title, but the South Dakota State men’s golf team won its eighth tournament title Tuesday, capturing the seventh annual Jackrabbit Invitational in the Primm Valley Golf Course.
The Jackrabbits shot a three-over par 867 (286-287-294) on the par-72, 7,131-yard Desert course. Creighton’s Kade Brown won the individual title, shooting a seven-under par 209.
Freshman Felipe Strobach (Lima, Peru) turned in his best collegiate performance, finishing second with a one-under par 215 (69-72-74). He collected 14 birdies in the three rounds.
