The South Dakota State men’s basketball team learned on Sunday that the Jackrabbits would face Maryland when they return to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in five seasons.
The No. 12 seed Jackrabbits and No. 5 seed Terrapins square off in the first round of the tournament at Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash., on Friday at approximately 1:20 PT, 3:20 CT, after the conclusion of the No. 4 seed Cal vs. No. 13 seed Hawaii game, which tips at 11 a.m. PT, 1 p.m. CT.
Fans can watch the game live on TBS, with Spero Dedes on the play-by-play, with Doug Gottlieb as the color analyst and Ros Gold-Onwude as the sideline reporter.
South Dakota State enters its 27th NCAA Tournament in school history, the third at the Division I level, with a 26-7 overall record and an 0-2 record in Division I NCAA play. The Terrapins make their 26th NCAA Tournament, where they own a record or 39-24, which includes a national title in 2002.
Friday’s game marks the first meeting between the Jackrabbits and the Terrapins, who enter the tournament ranked 18th in the latest AP Poll and 15th in the most recent USA Today Coaches Poll.
Both the Jacks and Terps competed, and won, at the Cancun Challenge earlier this season, with SDSU winning the Mayan Division of the Tournament and Maryland capturing the Riviera Division title.
