South Dakota State’s Alexa Hepner was named the Summit League’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

Hepner played all 180 minutes of weekend action for a defensive unit that posted two shutouts, allowing just six shots on goal en route to claiming the league’s regular season crown. The Prior Lake, Minnesota native has teamed with rest of the Jackrabbit squad to post nine straight wins (including six consecutive shutouts) and extend the team’s unbeaten streak to a school-record 11 matches, giving up just one goal in Summit League play.

This is the first career weekly honor for Hepner, and State’s eighth player of the week award this season.
