South Dakota State head men’s basketball coach Scott Nagy announced the addition of Illinois high school standout Tevin King.
King signed a National Letter of intent, indicating his plans to enroll at South Dakota State University in the fall of 2015 and compete in the Jackrabbit basketball team.
“Tevin is a great fit for our basketball team, he’s a very humble, hard working kid,” Nagy said. “We believe that he’s gonna help us out at all three guard positions and we’re also excited about how good of a student he is, and the character that he brings to our basketball team.”
A 6-2 guard from Chicago, King earned Class 2A First Team All-State, Illinois Basketball Coaches Association First Team All-State and conference player of the year honors in 2014 as a senior after averaging 14.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.5 steals per game.
In addition to his stellar senior season, King averaged 13.4 points per game in both his sophomore and junior seasons at Providence St. Mel High School, and then played the 2014-15 season at St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield, Wis., where he averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals per game.
King joins both Adam Dykman and Cole Gentry, who signed letters of intent on April 15.
