South Dakota State’s 23-21 win in Fargo last week gave SDSU its fourth victory in Fargo since 2008, the most by any FCS opponent to play in the Fargodome. SDSU has held NDSU to just three fourth-quarter points in those four wins, and the Jackrabbits scored the go-ahead points with 7:55, 3:49, 2:20 and 0:01 left in the game. Coupled with the April 2021 win, SDSU has won back-to-back games in Fargo for the first time since 1948 and 1950. Since 2012, NDSU has lost only five regular-season games at home (South Dakota State in 2016, Spring 2021 and Saturday; South Dakota in 2015; and Indiana State in 2012.)
Near Unanimous for SDSU
SDSU received 26 of 27 first-place votes in the coaches’ poll and 51 of 54 first-place votes in the media poll. The Jackrabbits also received FedEx Ground FCS National Team of the Week recognition from Stats Perform for their come-from-behind victory at NDSU. The victory marked SDSU’s third in a row in the Dakota Marker series and fifth in the last seven seasons.
