South Dakota State right-hander Andrew Clemen has been named Summit League Pitcher of the Week after helping lead the Jackrabbits to a 5-0 shutout victory over league-leading Western Illinois on May 10.
A sophomore from Des Moines, Iowa, Clemen pitched five shutout innings in his first career start, limiting Western Illinois to three hits, while striking out three and walking one in the first game of a doubleheader. He had previously made 25 appearances out of the bullpen during his two seasons with the Jackrabbits.
Clemen is the third Jackrabbit pitcher to earn Summit League Pitcher of the Week honors this season. Chad Hodges has received the award four times (Feb. 24, March 24, April 21, May 5) and Adam Bray is a two-time recipient (Feb. 17, March 10).
The Jackrabbits, 25-25 overall and 9-9 in The Summit League, close out the regular season with a four-game series Thursday through Saturday at North Dakota State.
