The SDSU football team has been selected as one of the top teams in the Football Championship Subdivision, coming in at No. 5 in the HERO Sports 2018 Preseason Pole.
Last year the Jacks finished with an 11-3 record and made the playoff semifinals for the first time in program history. Making their sixth consecutive playoff appearance.
SDSU is one of five Missouri Valley Football Conference schools to be in the preseason top 25. Defending national champion North Dakota State is first, Illinois State 12th, followed by Northern Iowa at No. 13 and Youngstown state at 20th.
In addition four Jackrabbit players were named to the 2018 HERO Sports FCS Preseason All-American Team. First team selections were linebacker Christian Rozeboom and kicker Chase Vinatieri. Earning third team recognition were cornerback Jordan Brown and return specialist Cade Johnson.
University of South Dakota defensive lineman Darin Greenfield was also named as a first team selection.
