Speaking in Nebraska last week, Iowa State University Researcher Dr. Ed Balistreri said the trade war between the U.S. and China has cost Nebraska close to $400 million with that total expected to grow. He says the dollar impact is even steeper in the entire Midwest region.
He says those impacts include both agriculture and non-agriculture sections of the economy.
Balistreri says its difficult to gauge how negative the effects of the trade war will be going forward and how long it will take to recover from it.
He says the bad relations that have come about between China and the U.S. because of the trade war will have lasting effects.
