Iowa State University’s Northwest Research Farm near Calumet has received its first grain storage system. GSI donated the bin and local dealer, C-S Agrow Service donated the labor for the install which took place this last week.
Research Farm Manager Josh Sievers says with up to 45 replicated research trials they’re often forced to harvest at various times and market right off the combine. However, this grain storage will alleviate that problem.
Since the research farm is partially self-supported this will help them better market their grain and operate in a more real world environment.
The 30-foot GSI bin has a storage capacity of 10,500 bushels.
