Packers and Sale Barns are starting to require that anyone selling them cattle be Beef Quality Assurance Certified. Iowa State University Extension Beef Specialist Beth Doran says producers who aren’t certified are getting less money for their cattle.
She says that having that Beef Quality Assurance Certificate also helps producers export their cattle as well as sell them domsetically.
Doran says ISU extension will be hosting a Beef Quality Assurance certification meeting August 6 from 10 a.m. until Noon in Rock Rapids Iowa at Frontier Bank. She says there’s no cost but they want producers to pre register by calling the Lyon County Extension office.
To pre register just phone 712—472—2576 before August 5.
