Iowa State University Extension is holding a pair of meetings this month for cattle producers to get certified under the beef quality assurance program. ISU Extension Beef Program Specialist Beth Doran says BQA certification has become a requirement for those producers selling to any of the four major packers and even some livestock auction market barns.
She says the BQA training certification meetings have been quite popular since they began those three years ago.
Doran says anyone wanting more information about BQA can contact them at ISU Extension or through the Iowa Beef Industry Council.
The first BQA meeting is Thursday June 10 from 10 am to Noon in Sac City at the fairgrounds with a June 16 meeting set for Estherville from 5 pm to 8 pm at the fairgrounds there. Registration is required for the certification meetings and can be done so at ISU extension offices.
