ISU Ag Law Center Helping Producers With Pandemic Aid Legal Issues

Earlier this week Iowa State University Extension hosted a webinar to help producers with economic issues brought on by the pandemic. They also talked about various legal issues connected to pandemic aid and other government programs. ISU Ag Law Center Director Kristine Tidgren was one of the presenters. She says it’s been a challenge for legal experts and farmers to interpret what the stimulus and aid packages mean from a legal standpoint.

She says they’ve also been working with producers on understanding the rules and tax implications of the PPP loans and State Ag Department loans designed to help provide pandemic relief.

Tidgren says they’ve gotten a lot of questions from producers, tenants and landlords from the CAREs package and how best to handle that.
