ISA President Says Despite Roller Coaster Negotiations, Trade Talks Must Continue

Chinese and U.S. trade negotiators reported progress made in recent talks, however following those the Chinese delegation returned home. Earlier they had planned to make some farm visits, including one near Omaha, Nebraska. Iowa Soybean Association President Lindsay Greiner says while there’s some optimism out of those recent talks, He’s not real concerned about the cancelling of the farm visits.

He says the entire trade negotiations with China continues to be a roller coast ride for America’s farmers.

Greiner says while China is an up and down type of situation, there is some positive trade news happening with Japan and Vietnam and to some extent the European Union that should be encouraging for farmers.

Senior negotiators from China indicated they had constructive discussions with the U.S. in recent days in Washington, D.C. and that they’ve agreed to continue to maintain communication.
