The Internal Revenue Service has outlined its plan to provide employees with a paid tax credit to offset paid sick leave time that employees can use to get the COVID 19 vaccine. South Dakota Pork Producers Council Executive Director Glenn Muller is pleased the agency is helping out those pork managers and processing workers in this way that will help keep the food chain flowing effectively.

He says all the safety steps the federal government has taken has been helpful to the pork industry and its employees get through the challenges brought on by the pandemic.

Muller says while there are still challenges in getting more processing going to meet the needs of the animal industry, the processing pace has improved and pork is getting processed much better than it was at the beginning of the pandemic.

The IRS tax credit is available to all businesses , including tax exempt organizations with fewer than 500 employees.
