The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is looking for civic-minded volunteers to serve on the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP). The TAP is a group of volunteers who come together to listen to taxpayers, and help identify major concerns. The panel also makes recommendations to the IRS

Regional Media Relations Specialist at the IRS, Karen Connelly

Connelly says volunteers learn more about the complexity of the tax system

There are a few requirements to be considered for a volunteer role, including being current with your federal tax filling and payment obligations, able to spend about three to four hundred  volunteer hours during the year, and passing an FBI criminal background check.

Connelly says South Dakota is in desperate need of volunteers. You can visit usajobs.gov, or improveirs.org for more details.
