IRFA Wants Vice President To Back RFS

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association is asking Vice President Joe Biden to come forward with the administration’s support of higher volume obligations under the renewable fuel standard. The group is concerned with reports last May that he’s changed the administration’s position because of lobbying by some oil companies. Iowa RFA Policy Director Grant Menke says their aim is to get the Vice President’s attention while he’s in Iowa.
The current EPA proposal for RFS volume obligations is at the Office of Management and Budget awaiting release. Menke says it’s taken the agency a long time to get this rule out for volume obligations. He says they need to get those volumes up for the sake of the country and renewable fuels.
Menke says earlier the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association wrote to the Vice President asking him to clarify his position and never received a response.
