Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says API is wrapping itself in the banner of market competition while advocating just the opposite and continuing their long held opposition to the RFS.

He says API attacks the RFS while defending special tax preferences they’ve received for over 100 years.

Shaw says renewable fuel proponents shouldn’t stand on their laurels but does believe there’s enough votes in Congress to defend the RFS against any possible repeal.

Shaw says big oil companies are continuing their opposition to the RFS because they don’t want consumers to have the choice of higher ethanol blends because oil can’t compete in that market.
