The GOP Senate stimulus bill contains no direct funding for ethanol plants hit by the pandemic. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says while that’s disappointing there is a glimmer of hope there still could be aid provided for those ethanol producers.

He says biofuel advocates are not giving up on convincing Congress to include them in any stimulus aid before the final measure gets sent to the President.

Shaw says the House has legislation that could help defray some of the costs that ethanol producers and farmers have suffered due to the COVID 19 crisis.

Shaw says Senate leadership along with the Administration missed a great opportunity to show their support for the ethanol industry with the stimulus legislation. He says now the hope is they can convince the House to fund ethanol in the final stimulus legislation.
