Irene Man Dies in Deer – Motorcycle Collision

55 year old Scot Brockmueller of Irene, S.D. has been identified as the person who died in a motorcycle-deer collision Saturday morning near Irene.

A 2006 Harley Davison FLHRCI was southbound on 448th Avenue near 295th Street, about four miles west and two north of Irene, when a deer entered the roadway. Brockmueller tried to avoid the deer, but the two collided.

Both the driver and female passenger, 59 year old Vickie Brockmueller of Irene, were thrown from the motorcycle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. She was transported by helicopter to a Sioux Falls hospital. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Also on the scene was the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office, Yankton EMS, Irene EMS and Irene Fire Department.
