The Iowa Legislature kicks off its 2020 session Monday in Des Moines. Iowa Pork Producers Association’s Public Policy Director Drew Mogler says they asking lawmakers to pass a bill to provide dollars for the Iowa Agriculture Department to defend against foreign animal diseases.

He says they’re also pushing for additional funding to improve water quality.

Mogler says their members are urging lawmakers to back reasonable regulations that allow them to conduct business in a sustainable and responsible manner.

Mogler says legislators will likely wrap up business after completing their budget with the 100th calendar day being April 21.
