Iowa’s Senators are both intending to block President Trump’s nominee to be EPA’s Deputy Administrator until the agency reveals what it plans to do with 52 small refiner waiver gap requests. Senator Chuck Grassley says he’s joining in with Senator Joni Ernst in opposing Doug Benevento as Deputy EPA administrator.

He says he and Ernst both met with the EPA administrator recently to voice concerns with the waiver applications and Grassley says he also met with the Benevento.

Grassley says he hasn’t received any information from the EPA on why those 52 gap waivers should even be considered.

Benevento is currently EPA’s Associate Deputy administrator and has been nominated to take the number two post at the agency.
