Over 200 supporters for Iowa biofuels convened at the capital on Wednesday to show their support for the Iowa Biofuels Access Bill. House File 2128 would give Iowa drivers increased access to lower-cost biofuel blends like E15. Nathan Hohnstein Policy Director for the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association says the passage of this bill offers a positive economic impact benefiting all Iowans.
Hohnstein says the bill would also protect rural Iowa’s local gas stations by expanding grant opportunities to upgrade infrastructure to offer more biofuels.
He notes this legislation promotes the use of an already well-established resource the state has.
Originally introduced by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, the Biofuels Access Bill passed the Iowa house last month with a vote of 82 to 10.
