Iowa Water Tax Could be a Tough Sell

A number of Ag groups in Iowa have banded together in an effort to raise the state sales tax, and dedicate that money to improving water quality.
Senator Randy Feenstra of Hull says the tax increase is a problem…..

Feenstra, the ranking republican on the Senate Ways and Means Committee, says those tax dollars would be misdirected……

Feenstra says he thinks it will still be difficult for the tax to get through the Iowa legislature….

The water quality tax is a reaction to the lawsuit filed by the Des Moines Waterworks against three northwest counties over the amount of nitrates entering the Des Moines River watershed.
