The unemployment rate in Iowa headed back down in August after a small move up in July. Iowa Workforce Development spokesperson Courtney Greene.

That number of unemployed Iowans hit 62-thousand-400 in August, down from 63-thousand-900 in July. The unemployment rate increase in July was the first move up in six months, and now the level has dropped back down.

Greene says a number of sectors added jobs in August.

The total number of Iowans working is 12-hundred higher than July, and 26-hundred higher than one year ago, with more than one-point-six million people working.

The state’s jobless rate continues to be well below the U-S level of five-point-one percent for August.
