A delegation from Iowa is in China this week on a trade mission led by Governor Kim Reynolds. She says they’ve had good meetings with Chinese government and industry officials and have made progress with beef trade and trait approvals for agricultural biotech products.

Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey says they’re hoping to get a more transparent and consistent process with biotech trait approvals by the Chinese. And he says they’re still working on that.

Iowa Cattlemen’s Association CEO Matt Deppe says some of their processors are meeting Chinese requirements for beef trade and getting product to them.

The delegation left Iowa July 19 and returns on July 28.
