Consumers are seeing the effects of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza as they have noticed a shortage of eggs, along with a price hike.  Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says the poultry disease remains a problem for poultry producers.

Naig says another case of the avian flu was detected in Iowa on January 24th.

Naig says the avian flu is only one component driving up the price of eggs.  He says consumers are feeling the effects of inflation.

The Iowa Agriculture Secretary tells of how many birds in Iowa have perished because of the avian influenza.

Naig says highly pathogenic avian influenza is everywhere as 47 states have reported outbreak cases.
