A report from the Iowa State Ombudsman says the state board created to ensure the state Open Meetings and Open Records Laws are followed violated the Open Meetings Law twice.  Ombudsman Kristie Hirschman says the Iowa Public Information Board (IPIB) went into closed session twice to discuss the Burlington Police Department video of a fatal shooting of a woman.  Hirschman says they didn’t take the proper action when they came out of the closed sessions.

Hirschman says members of the board have refused to explain their actions.

Hirschman says her report is the final step for her office, saying “We let the public sentiment control what happens from this point forward.”
