The 2014 Iowa State Fair gets underway in Des Moines tomorrow (Thursday).  State Fair Manager Gary Slater says they’ve made some improvements on the fairgrounds which should help attendance.

Slater says they’ve also redone the 4H and FFA dormitory and modernized it for the young show people.  He says for those coming to the fair for the entertainment they have several acts that have been selling well.

He says Christian music acts Newzboys and Matthew West who lead off the fair have been selling well along with country music artist Jake Owen and Rock and Rollers Foreigner and Styx.  He says their FFA and 4H participation keeps growing every year.

Slater advises fair goers to get there early, make a plan and for more information go to their web site for specific information. The Fair runs through August 17.
