The Iowa State Fair continues through the weekend in Des Moines. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says It’s one of the largest ag expositions in the country, featuring thousands of open class exhibits, 4-H and FFA livestock shows and static entries.
He says the fair is a chance for young people to compete and develop leadership skills they will use when they enter the ag workforce.
The State Fair also showcases the state’s commodities to the public, from honey to eggs, Christmas trees, butter carvings and even garden produce.
More than one million people attend the Iowa State Fair annually.
