The Iowa State Fair started last Thursday after a hiatus last year due to COVID. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says they probably won’t set a record, but attendance could still hit 1 million and they’re pleased with the number of youth and open class exhibits, including all species of livestock.

He says the fair is also a great event to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers.

The 39th annual Governor’s Charity Steer Show was also held on Saturday which raises money for the Ronald McDonald houses of Iowa.

The steer show winner was Jeff Angelo of WHO Radio with a steer owned by Lane Elmquist of Audubon.
