Desmond King of Iowa has won the Jim Thorpe Award given to the top defensive back in college football.

The junior cornerback led Iowa with eight interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

King was one of several national award winners announced Thursday in the lead up to Saturday’s Heisman Trophy ceremony.

Derrick Henry of Alabama, one of the Heisman finalists, received both the Walter Camp and Maxwell Awards as college Player of the Year.
