A trade delegation from the Iowa Soybean Association has been traveling through Europe. United States Soybean Export Council Consultant Benno Van Der Laan says a number of regulatory challenges remain in the E.U. including barriers on biotech soybeans.
Iowa Soybean Growers Association President Bill Shipley says while there’s been the promise of increased trade following the meeting between President Trump and EU President Juncker, there’s no specifics on what that will involve.
Wilton, Iowa farmer Dave Walton says from their conservations with the E.U., they’re expecting the E.U. to buy more U.S. soybeans in the future.
The Iowa delegation has spent a week and a half in Ireland, Denmark, Hungary and Austria.
