Iowa lawmakers return to Des Moines for their 2019 legislative session on January 14. Iowa Soybean Association President Lindsey Greiner says they don’t anticipate many contentious issues for agriculture. However, the will be watching to see if lawmakers vote to change the Master Matrix system.

He says they do expect more discussion on water quality and how to fund the state’s initiative.

Greiner says if there is a hike in the state sales tax, it should go to property tax relief not water projects.

Greiner also expects lawmakers to deal with less funding for the state budget.
