Iowa Soybean President Says USMCA More Important Than China Deal

The President of the Iowa Soybean Association says getting USMCA ratified is more important right now than a deal with China. Lindsay Greiner says they welcome the signing of the Phase 1 trade agreement with China. However, there are more immediate benefits for U.S. agriculture from the USMCA and the window to get it passed this year is starting to narrow.

He says both Canada and Mexico are critical trading partners for the United States, and it’s time to get that agreement over the finish line.

Greiner says Congress needs to focus on trade deals in the remainder of this session and put the talk of impeachment aside.

Mexico’s North American trade negotiator says after talking with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer the USMCA vote could get brought up before Thanksgiving.
